Special thanks to Amy, Zoe and Ezra who helped me make it through this project with their ideas, support and singing. Thanks also to Chris (Fast Ball) Bilton for your dedication and great songwriting and for putting up with me for these past two records. Thanks to Sandy Shiner for the insights and life lessons I could get no where else on the planet...you will never be forgotten. Thanks to the wonderful players in Toronto and Nashville who played so beautifully on this record. The engineers, especially Ed Seay who is one of the great mixers working today and maybe the greatest living connoisseurs of fine American chicken. Thanks to my dad who showed me how to sing a lyric .. every word belongs to you. Thanks to Colleen Allen for her saxophone work and David Travers-Smith for his trumpet and technical wizardry. To Jim Caverhill for his wise comments during the making of. Thanks to Vic Florencia for your help and understanding. Thanks also to John Bailey for your help and ideas and to my assistant Chantelle Stone for helping in so many ways.

I love making records......Music is my salvation and my passion. Even in the internet age, I am still drawn to the task of banging drums and plucking steel strings all in the service of making something that will ring true to someone half way around the World. Music I feel, is in our DNA......it is as important as breathing out and breathing in (to quote a song). The language of music speaks to the heart and to what it is to be human. At it's best, the language of music is the perfect melding together of melody and lyric - creating something that is greater then either one alone. Songs best deliver the stories of love through the dark days and the sunny days, the joy, the longing and heartbreak. Perhaps those are the primary stories that shape us as we walk through this life together. It's always been the rainy days that interested me and every drop of water was the story of someone’s life. I hope that you will see a bit of your own life in these songs. We are all connected in our journey as every rain drop comes from a common cloud. The journey towards love is the primary migration of the human heart and on that Serengeti some of us are lost, hearts are bruised and dreams are made and shattered.. but the river is wide..... and oh what a magnificent journey it is.

Track Name: On A Perfect Day
WE WERE ONCE UPON A PERFECT DAY
AND LIKE A PERFECT WAVE IT ROLLED AWAY
TO ANOTHER DESERT TOWN THE STARS WERE FALLING DOWN
CAUSE EVERY PAINTED PICTURE SAYS YOU’RE GONE
BUT LOVE WARM AND SOFT WILL ALWAYS FIND ITS SONG

ON YOUR PILLOW SO FAR AWAY
I FORGOT THEY CALLED FOR RAIN
ALL THAT WATER RUNNING DOWN THE DRAIN
BUT MY HEARTS STILL GREENER THAN HILLSIDES IN LA

ON A PERFECT DAY
ON A PERFECT DAY

SO I’M BACK HOME NOW
WITH ALL MY MEMORIES
THEY KEEP ME DRY
ON DAYS LIKE THESE

AND I’M BURNING FOR YOU LIKE I DID
WHEN WE WERE YOUNG AND STRONG
BURNING DOWN THE CANYONS

TRUE LOVE ALWAYS FINDS ITS SONG
AND I WROTE THIS ONE FOR YOU TODAY
Track Name: I Have No Doubt
DID I EVER TELL YOU
WHAT THIS MOMENT MEANS TO ME
IN THE SHADOW OF AN ANGEL CALLING
DOWN THE HALL AND FAR AWAY
I’VE LOVED YOU SINCE THE FIRST DAY EVER
SINCE THE FIRST DAY I LAID EYES ON YOU
FOUND MY PURPOSE
FOUND MY HEART TOO
FOUND MYSELF ALONG THE WAY
LOVING YOU
I GUESS THERE’S SOMEONE SMILING DOWN ON ME
CAN YOU FEEL IT TOO

I HAVE NO DOUBT
I HAVE NO FEAR
IT’S YOU AND ME
AND WE’RE STANDING RIGHT HERE
THIS MOMENT WILL LAST
FOREVER I KNOW
I’LL TAKE CARE OF YOU
LIKE YOU WERE MY SOUL

TAKE MY FUTURE
TAKE MY NAME
I’VE BEEN WAITING BABY
NOW I’M ON THAT TRAIN
SOME ONE TO SHINE ON
LIKE THE SUN IN YOUR EYES
I FEEL THE LIGHT AND I’M AMAZED
AND WHEN THE ROAD IS DARK
I’LL BE YOUR DIAMOND SHOES
WALK WITH ME TONIGHT
YOU GOT NOTHING TO LOSE

I HAVE NO DOUBT
I HAVE NO FEAR
IT’S YOU AND ME
AND WE’RE STANDING RIGHT HERE
ALONE IN THE DARK GIVE ME YOUR PAIN
JUST LET YOUR HAIR FALL DOWN LIKE THE RAIN

AND WHEN THE PATH AHEAD IS SO COLD AND DARK
AND THE OCEAN IS SO ROUGH AND WIDE
WHEN THE TEARS ARE RUNNING DOWN YOUR FACE
I WILL BE THERE WHEN THE TEARS START TO FALL
ALL YOU GOTTA DO IT CALL MY NAME

I HAVE NO DOUBT
I HAVE NO FEAR
IT’S YOU AND ME
AND WE’RE STANDING RIGHT HERE
THE MOMENT HAS COME TO SHINE LIKE THE SUN
EVERY DAY
EVERY NIGHT
FOR THE REST OF OUR LIVES

I HAVE NO DOUBT
I HAVE NO FEAR
IT’S YOU AND ME
AND WE’RE STANDING RIGHT HERE
THIS MOMENT WILL LAST
FOREVER I KNOW
I’LL TAKE CARE OF YOU
CAUSE YOU ARE MY SOUL

FOR THE REST OF OUR LIVES
Track Name: My TV
DROVE THE CAR INTO THE SUN
DOWN THE ROAD FAST AS A GUN
ROCKABILLY SONGS ON THE RADIO
ERSEL HICKEY AND THE DIAMOND GLOWS

EVERYBODY WANTS TO BE A STAR
EVERYBODY WANTS TO BE SOMEONE
LEFT BOGALUSA IN THE POURING RAIN
AND HEADED OUT FOR THE LA SUN

MY OLD MAN’S RUSTY AS A RUSTY RAKE
FISHING DOWN BY A BLACK HOLD LAKE
BURIED HIS DREAMS BY AN APPLE TREE
BUT I SAW THE FUTURE
ON MY TV

THERE’S A MANTA RAY AT THE BEACH MOTEL
AND I PLAYED MY GUITAR LIKE THE RING OF A BELL
TOO MUCH WINE AND NOT ENOUGH WOMEN
NOW I’M BACK ON THE STREET AND I CAN’T MAKE A LIVING

MY OLD MAN’S RUSTY AS A RUSTY RAKE
FISHING DOWN BY A BLACK HOLD LAKE
HE BURIED HIS DREAMS BY AN APPLE TREE
BUT I SAW THE FUTURE
ON MY TV

YOU FOLLOW THE RIVER, YOU FOLLOW THE STARS
BUT YOU ALWAYS END UP RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE
RAN AWAY FROM A SMALL TOWN
IT WAS ALL IN MY HEAD
RAN AWAY FROM MARIA
NOW MY HEART FEELS LIKE LEAD

MY OLD MAN’S RUSTY AS A RUSTY RAKE
FISHING DOWN BY A BLACK HOLD LAKE
HE BURIED HIS DREAMS BY AN APPLE TREE
BUT I SAW THE FUTURE
I SAW THE FUTURE BABY
ON MY TV
Track Name: She Doesn't Mean That Much To Me
YOU FIND A LIFE THAT FITS
YOU FIND YOURSELF IN LITTLE BITS
EACH CUT JUST A LITTLE BIT DEEPER

THERE’S A SOUTHERN MOON THAT NEVER GOES DOWN
AND MY MEMORY’S LIKE A MERRY-GO-ROUND
NO MATTER HOW I TRY I JUST CAN’T LET GO

CAUSE YOU’RE HERE INSIDE OF ME
AND THE YEARS WON’T SET ME FREE
SO I’LL LIE HERE AND PRETEND

SHE DOESN’T MEAN THAT MUCH
DOESN’T MEAN THAT MUCH
WHY SHOULD I GO BACK AND THINK ABOUT HER FOR
SHE DOESN’T MEAN THAT MUCH TO ME ANYMORE

I’VE GOT A LIFE NOW JUST LIKE YOU
AND THE TIES THAT BIND ME
YA I’M WALKING THAT WALK
LIKE A SOLDIER OF FORTUNE

BUT I HEAR YOU ON MY WINDOW PANE
IN THE RHYTHM OF THE POURING RAIN
AND I’M GONE, GONE

SHE DOESN’T MEAN THAT MUCH
DOESN’T MEAN THAT MUCH
WHY SHOULD I GO BACK AND THINK ABOUT HER FOR
SHE DOESN’T MEAN THAT MUCH TO ME ANY MORE

AND SHE PROBABLY WON’T REMEMBER MY NAME
AND THAT WOULD JUST DRIVE ME INSANE
CAUSE I’M GONE, GONE, GONE

SHE DOESN’T MEAN THAT MUCH
DOESN’T MEAN THAT MUCH
WHY SHOULD I GO BACK AND THINK ABOUT HER FOR
SHE DOESN’T MEAN THAT MUCH TO ME ANYMORE
SHE DOESN’T MEAN THAT MUCH ANYMORE
SHE DOESN’T MEAN THAT MUCH

OH, I NEVER THINK ABOUT YOU ANYMORE
I NEVER DREAM ABOUT YOU ALL THE TIME
I NEVER DREAM ABOUT YOU…
Track Name: Avalina
AVALINA STAY
I’LL CHANGE MY WAYS
TELL ME THAT YOU LOVE ME STILL
CAUSE I LOVE YOU AND I ALWAYS WILL
I LOVE YOU AND I ALWAYS WILL

GIVE YOU SILVER
I’LL GIVE YOU GOLD
GIVE YOU WINGS AND
A BABY TO HOLD
I’LL GET A JOB AT THE MINE ON THE HILL
JUST LIKE THOSE BLIND PONIES WORKING THERE STILL

THEY SAY THE DARKNESS GETS INTO YOU
INTO YOUR SOUL
MAYBE THOSE BLIND PONIES ARE A LOT LIKE ME
DARK AS COAL LOOK AT THEM AT THEM RUN
RIGHT BACK WHERE THEY STARTED FROM

AVALINA STAY
I’LL FIND MY WAY
CAUSE IN MY MIND YOU’RE BEAUTIFUL STILL
I LOVE YOU AND I ALWAYS WILL
I LOVE YOU AND I ALWAYS WILL
Track Name: Hell Of A Ride
I GUESS EVERYBODY THINKS THEY NEED A LITTLE TIME
BUT YOU WALKED OUT THE DOOR AND YOU TOOK ALL OF MINE
LAST TIME I CHECKED DENVER WAS COVERED WITH SNOW

SO I DROVE THROUGH SANTA FE TO MEXICO
THERE’S A BAR DOWN THERE AND THEY DANCE REAL SLOW
SPANISH TOWN, NOTHING’S CHANGED

BUT THE CAR BROKE DOWN ON THE I21
I WAS DRIVING TOO FAST LIKE I WAS SHOT FROM A GUN

YAA, HELL OF A RIDE
WHAT DOESN’T KILL YOU KEEPS YOU STRONGER INSIDE
WHEN YOU BROKE MY HEART IT WAS NO SURPRISE
LOVING YOU WAS A HELL OF A RIDE

LOVE CHANGES EVERYTHING
LIKE A TATTOO UNDERNEATH YOUR SKIN
LOVE CHANGES EVERYTHING
LOVE CHANGES YOUR HEART

SO WHEN I’M FEELING ALONE I STILL THINK OF THAT GIRL
AND I CRY JUST A LITTLE LIKE IT’S MARGARITA VILLE

YAA, HELL OF A RIDE
WHAT DOESN’T KILL YOU KEEPS YOU STRONGER INSIDE
WHEN YOU BROKE MY HEART IT WAS NO SURPRISE
LOVING YOU WAS A HELL OF A RIDE

SOMETIMES I FLOAT IN SPACE
AND THE UNIVERSE IS ALL THAT KEEPS ME HANGING ON

MAYBE I’M BETTER OFF WITH NINA. SHE MAKES MY HEART SING
BUT I’M ADDICTED TO JOCELYN AND I’M ADDICTED TO THE PAIN
YOU BROKE MY HEART IT WAS NO SURPRISE
LOVING YOU WAS A HELL OF A RIDE
HELL OF A RIDE
Track Name: Too Far To Turn Back Now
YOU WERE DARKER THAN THE SHADOWS
IN THE CORNERS OF MY EYES
SO BEAUTIFUL AND DISTANT
LIKE A STAR UP IN THE SKY

YOU NEVER PROMISED ANYTHING
I NEVER THOUGHT YOU WOULD
AND ALL THE LOVE I THOUGHT YOU GAVE
YOU TURNED AROUND AND TOOK

BUT I REALIZED I’D COME TOO FAR
TOO FAR TO TURN BACK NOW

I NEVER SAW MY FUTURE
IN THE MIRROR OF YOUR EYES
BUT I BEGGED YOU LIKE THE MORNING SKY
BEGS THE SUN TO RISE

AND WHENEVER WE WENT DANCING
IN SOME DUSTY COWBOY BAR
YOU WERE LIKE THE MARIONETTE
ON THE DASHBOARD OF MY CAR

AND I HOPED TO GOD WE’D COME TOO FAR
TOO FAR TO TURN BACK NOW

WHAT WILL TOMORROW BE
WITHOUT YOUR ARMS TO ANCHOR ME
TUMBLE WEEDS JUST BLOW AWAY
THE SAND CAN’T HOLD THEM MORE THAN A DAY

I CAN SEE YOUR TICKET ON THE TABLE
AND YOU’RE FULL OF SWEET REGRET
I CAN SEE THE TEARS INSIDE YOUR EYES
AND MINE ARE RED I BET

I NEVER KNEW MY HEART WOULD BREAK
I NEVER SAW THE SIGNS
BUT THAT PHONE WAS ALWAYS RINGING
AND THERE WAS NO ONE ON THE LINE

AND I REALIZED YOU’D GONE TOO FAR
TOO FAR TO TURN BACK NOW
Track Name: Wounded
TIME WON’T HEAL

TIME WON’T CHANGE IT

TIME WON’T EVEN STOP THE PAIN

IN THE END LIFE GOES ON

A HIGHWAY RUNNING THROUGH

ALL THE WAY

RIGHT BACK TO THE EDGE

I REMEMBER WHERE WE STARTED FROM

WAY BACK WHEN

I WON’T DIE HERE IN YOUR ARMS

BUT I’M WOUNDED

I CAN’T SHAKE YOU

I CAN’T WAKE YOU UP AGAIN

I CAN’T TAKE YOU

SOMEPLACE YOU DON’T WANT TO GO

ON CITY STREETS

OR FIELDS OF GOLD

I REMEMBER EVERYTHING

SO I’VE BEEN TOLD

I WON’T DIE HERE IN YOUR ARMS

BUT I’M WOUNDED

I WON’T DIE HERE IN YOUR ARMS

BUT I’M WOUNDED

YOUR EYES LOOK FAR AWAY

IS YOUR RESTLESS HEART WALKING AWAY

LIKE A STAR IN LOVE’S PARADE

LOOKING FOR A SUNNY DAY

I WON’T SHED ANOTHER TEAR
BUT I’M WOUNDED

BABY DON’T YOU WALK AWAY

I THOUGHT THAT LOVE COULD FIND A WAY
I'M WAITING TILL THE SUN STARTS TO SHINE

HOLD ME IN YOUR ARMS ONE MORE TIME
Track Name: Butter Lane
ANNA MAY WAS JUST LIKE A DREAM
SHE BOUGHT FLOWERS FOR THEIR BEAUTY
AND SOLD EVERYTHING
BUT TIME DOESN’T WAIT FOR CURTAINS AND LACE
WHEN EVERY THINGS GONE
IT’S THE LOVE THAT YOU MAKE

WELCOME BACK TO BUTTER LANE
I REMEMBER EVERYTHING
I WALKED THE STREETS WITH ANNA MAY
LIKE TRUMPET FLOWERS IN THE RAIN
FROM CHELSEA BACK TO BUTTER LANE

SHE’D TAKE YOU DOWN AND MAKE YOU CRY
BACK IN HER ROOM SHE’D GET YOU HIGH
SHE SANG LIKE A MORNING WHY
THERE WAS A SUNSHINE MARMALADE BLUE SKIES
AND I LAY IN A DREAM
WAY BACK THERE IN THE AGE OF STEAM

WELCOME BACK TO BUTTER LANE
I REMEMBER EVERYTHING
I WALKED THE STREETS WITH ANNA MAY
LIKE TRUMPET FLOWERS IN THE RAIN
FROM CHELSEA BACK TO BUTTER LANE

ONCE THERE WAS THE KING OF THE WORLD
ONCE I HELD THE FUTURE IN THE PALM OF MY HAND

SO I LAID IN BED AND I HAD A DREAM
THAT WE WERE RIGHT BACK WHERE WE HAD BEEN
RIGHT BACK WHERE OUR HEARTS WERE FROM
ALL IS WELL THAT ENDED WELL
BUT I CAN’T SAY GOOD BYE

WELCOME BACK TO BUTTER LANE
YA, I REMEMBER EVERYTHING
WELCOME BACK TO BUTTER LANE
I REMEMBER EVERYTHING

I LOVED YOU THEN AND I LOVE YOU NOW
I LOVED YOU THEN AND I LOVE YOU NOW, BABY
Track Name: I'll Never Love Like That Again
LOVE COMES
LOVE BURNS
LIKE A SOUL FIRE
THIS MORNING I JUST WALKED OUTSIDE
SCREEN DOOR BUMPING
LIKE A NEW YORK TAXI RIDE
GONNA DRIVE A MILLION MILES
BEFORE I SLEEP
CRY THE TEARS I TRIED TO KEEP
DEEP DOWN INSIDE

ONCE WE HAD IT ALL
ONCE UPON A TEAR
I FELT YOUR HEART AND THEN
I KNEW I KNEW
I’LL NEVER LOVE LIKE THAT AGAIN

LOVE
THAT’S ALL THERE IS
GIVE ME THE POWER
TO GET THROUGH ONE MORE NIGHT
AND I WON’T HOLD ON ANY LONGER
CAUSE YOU’VE MADE IT CLEAR
IT’S OVER NOW
BUT I CAN’T LET GO

ONCE WE HAD IT ALL
ONCE UPON A TEAR
I FELT YOUR HEART AND THEN
I KNEW I KNEW
I’M NEVER GONNA LOVE LIKE THAT AGAIN

I’M HAUNTED BY WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN
I’LL NEVER GIVE MY HEART AGAIN
BUT LOVE PLAYS ON LIKE A SAXOPHONE
SHINY AS TIN

ONCE WE HAD IT ALL
ONCE UPON A YEAR
I FELT YOUR HEART AND THEN
I KNEW I KNEW I KNEW
I’LL NEVER LOVE LIKE THAT AGAIN

AS HILLS GO BY I THINK ABOUT
ALL THE LIGHT YOU SHONE THROUGHOUT
Track Name: The First Time
I CAN FEEL YOUR HEART
BEATING LIKE A DRUM
BUT YOU’RE SO FAR AWAY
YOU SEEM LIKE A STRANGER TO ME
AND I CAN’T SEE MY LIFE
IN YOUR EYES ANYMORE
ALL I SEE INSIDE THE DARKNESS IS
YOU’RE WALKING OUT THAT DOOR

THIS IS THE FIRST TIME
IT FELT LIKE THE LAST TIME
THE LAST TIME
IT FELT LIKE THE FIRST
THE RAIN’S COMING DOWN
BUT I’M DYING OF THIRST
IF YOU DON’T LOVE ME
IT WON’T BE THE FIRST TIME

THERE’S NO ROAD AHEAD
JUST THE MILES BEHIND
SO I’LL HOLD BACK THE TEARS
WAITING FOR A SIGN
AND I CAN’T FIND THE WORDS
AND I CAN’T FIND THE STRENGTH
SO TONIGHT I’LL JUST LIE HERE AND PRETEND
THAT YOU’RE YOU COMING BACK AGAIN

THIS IS THE FIRST TIME
IT FELT LIKE THE LAST TIME
THE LAST TIME
IT FELT LIKE THE FIRST
THE RAIN’S COMING DOWN
AND I’M DYING OF THIRST
IF YOU DON’T LOVE ME
IT WON’T BE THE FIRST
WON’T BE THE FIRST TIME BABY

THIS IS THE FIRST TIME
IT FELT LIKE THE LAST TIME
THE LAST TIME
IT FELT LIKE THE FIRST
THE RAIN’S COMING DOWN
AND I’M DYING OF THIRST
IF YOU DON’T LOVE ME
IT WON’T BE THE FIRST TIME
WON’T BE THE FIRST TIME, BABY
